Manufacturing Engineer – Metal

This position is accountable for technical over sight (process and product) of our metal manufacturing operations.  The incumbent will work closely with key members in the organization to develop efficient process flow and production requirements.  He/She will assist with project requirements including engineered drawing review, raw materials needs, assembly sequences and template review.  He/She will provide layout processes on the shop floor as required for in house fabrication.  The Manufacturing Engineer will inspect completed assemblies prior to shipment to assure quality and esthetic requirements are met.

Job/Skills/Knowledge Requirements:

  • Mechanical Aptitude:  A complete understanding of all shop floor machines and required tooling, including how the machine is designed, machines specific uses and the requirements for repair and maintenance of these machines.
  • Construction/Assembly: Understanding of the materials used in metal fabrication, including raw materials, hardware and shop supplies in the fabrication of steel and aluminum products for the institutional and commercial food service markets.
  • Mathematics: Understanding of arithmetic, geometry and algebra and how they will apply to the metal production processes to be utilized.
  • Extensive shop floor background, fabrication, and assembly and finishing of completed products.
  • Experience in powder coat paint processes and applications.
  • Experience in CNC programming for Fanuc Welding Robot.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to read and understand engineered blueprints and / or shop drawings for the manufacture of steel and aluminum products.
  • Must show competency in both TIG and MIG welding functions.
  • Able to work effectively in a team environment that requires cross training, open communication, and team development and improvement activities.
  • The incumbent will have a 4 year degree in a discipline related to manufacturing engineering or the equivalent in experience.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:

This position typically works in both an office environment and on the production operations floor.  The incumbent will be exposed to typical shop conditions: dust, noise, heat, cold, fumes.  Equipment used includes PC and other office equipment as well as all production machinery, equipment and tools used in the manufacturing of metal products.  The use of personal protective equipment will be required in specific areas. The incumbent must be able to handle stressful situations involving project deadlines, multiple priorities and relationship management. This position requires frequent interaction with others and the ability to effectively work with people and teams.
